  Various exhaust systems are in development, all of which will feature the absolute maximum ground clearance for Syncro’s or lowered VW’s. All will be made from 304 stainless steel. More details will be added when they are available...

EJ Series Cast Exhaust Manifolds

   Exhaust manifolds cast from 304 stainless steel to fit the EJ series engines. These give the best possible ground clearance, and merge the two ports in each head into one, with a smooth inner bore.

   The ‘out’ end of the manifolds is a socket into which a piece of 2” or 50mm OD stainless steel tube can be welded. The stainless manifolds should be welded with 308 stainless wire, and should not be welded to mild steel tube due to the different rates of thermal expansion.

   Exhaust systems based on the manifolds will be available shortly, and steel versions will be available in the future for use when fabricating custom turbo headers. Stainless steel is less preferable for turbo headers because of stresses produced by it’s very high thermal expamsion at the temperatures reached in a turbo header system.

 

EJ Series Exhaust Flanges:

  Exhaust flanges to suit all Subaru EJ series engines are available in 304 stainless steel. They are laser cut from 8mm plate, and suit 1 5/8” (42mm) OD tube:

   The flanges should have the tube inserted haf way through the flange thickness, and welded around the inside of the bore, as this minimises distortion of the flange,
