….for normally aspirated applications

All our induction hose kits use reinforced EPDM induction hoses designed by us for the application, not hoses from another application which ‘sort of’ fit, or multiple generic hoses with joiners everywhere. They include all breather and idle air fittings to suit original Subaru hoses on your engine and stainless steel hose clips.

The hose design is loosely based on the MY90-94 normally aspirated Legacy induction pipe, which was a remarkably close to being the right shape for a T25 / T3 / Vanagon, but not ideal. We designed it back when the MY90-94 legacy became too rare to be able to find reliably find used, and too expensive to buy new from Subaru (they cost of around 4 times as much as our more basic kits), but with a few changes to optimise the fit in a VW. These include correcting the angle of the inlet end, so it sits level in a VW, and tightening the bend off the throttle body to clear the VW bodywork.

Basic Induction Hose Kit – all Phase I EJ Series Normally Aspirated Engines

Price: £70.83 GBP + VAT (£85.00)

The Phase I EJ series engines all have their idle speed control valves mounted on the inlet manifold not the throttle body. In European normally aspirated model Subaru’s the Phase I engines were used in all MY90-99 models with EJ series engines (except the MY97-01 Forester only EJ202 – the model with the ECU mounted on the engine).
This kit suits every normally aspirated EJ series engine with multi point fuel injection except the MY97 – 01 Forester (only) EJ202.

Basic induction hose kit to suit the Phase I engines. The Phase I engines use MAF sensors to directly measure  airflow rather than the MAP and IAT sensors used on calculate air flow on the Phase II engines. The Phase I engines have their idle speed control valves mounted on the inlet manifold, no the throttle body, requiring a separate hose to the induction. A fitting for this hose is included.

The included bracket picks up on weld nuts already in the VW body.

Accepts any 3.5” / 76mm filter of your choice (not included – we do not stock these filters)

Suits all T25 / T3 / Vanagon applivations (including Syncro), except air cooled or very early diesel models (pre 1983) which are still using their short (091/1) gearbox without an extended front gearbox mount to push the engine and gearbox back to the later (094) position, which is far more suitable for Subaru engines.

Airflow meter not included.

This induction hose uses the original breather hoses, plastic tee piece and idle speed control valve hose from your Phase I engine – as highlighted by the red asterisks below:

Basic Induction Hose Kit – all Phase II EJ Series Cable Throttle Normally Aspirated Engines

Price: £75.00 GBP +VAT (£90.00)

Fits all the Phase II cable throttle EJ series engines, including the one with air assist injection. In European normally aspirated model Subaru’s the Phase II EJ series engines were used in all MY00 onwards models
This kit suits every normally aspirated Phase II EJ series engine with a cable throttle, (plus also the MY97 – 01 Forester (only) EJ202 – the model with the ECU mounted on the engine).

Basic induction hose kit to suit the Phase II engines. The Phase II engines use MAP sensors to calculate air flow (also known as speed – density systems) rather than MAF (MAF sensors were used on the Phase I engines, and directly measure airflow), and have their idle speed control valves mounted on the throttle body rather than on the inlet manifold.

This hose kit can be supplied with a hole for the separate inlet air temperature sensor used on some Phase II models (EJ202, EJ201 and EJ251 with EGR, etc). Models which have this separate sensor don’t have it built in to the MAP sensors, as the other Phase II models do, and it was fitted into a rubber grommet in the plastic induction box on the throttle body.

The included bracket picks up on weld nuts already in the VW body.

Accepts any 3.5” / 76mm filter of your choice (not included – we do not stock these filters)

Now includes breather hose extensions for use on the models which had a large plastic box (a filter box or a resonator) mounted directly to the throttle body in the Subaru, making the original breather hoses to the rocker covers too short (i.e. most Phase II engines).

Suits all T25 / T3 / Vanagon applications (including Syncro), except air cooled or very early diesel models (pre 1983) which are still using their short (091) gearbox without an extended front gearbox mount to push the engine and gearbox back to the later (094) position, which is far more suitable for Subaru engines. With the short 091 gearbox in VW’s intended location in the chassis, although any of the pre CAN Subaru engines will fit without any bodywork modification, you will not be able to get any induction hose onto the throttle body. The shorter gearbox means the throttle body is much closer to the bodywork. The usual solution to this is to move the gearbox back in the chassis so the bell housing to gearbox joining face is in the same location as with an 091/1 or an 094 using the extended front mount kit 800-00013 . This both makes enough room for an induction hose, and also means the same engine mounting crossmember can be used as with all other 2wd models.

• drive by wire throttle EJ series engines, all of which have different sized and different positioned throttle bodies, some of which foul on the T25 /T3 / Vangaon standard bodywork without an induction hose, never mind fit an and leave room for the hose.
• any turbo EJ series engines
• the MY90-92 carburetor EJ22
• any EG or EZ 6 cylinder engines, all of which have very different throttle body sizes and / or locations. We could make hoses for at least the EZ series engines, but the very low demand makes this uneconomical (the investment in hose tooling would be unlikely to ever pay off)

EPDM is an OEM induction hose material widely used in older cars and still widely used in industrial and off highway applications. More modern cars tend to use plastic (typically polypropylene with bellows moulded into the part design to absorb movement)
